The Honorable Ehud Olmert
Prime Minister of Israel
Prime Minister's Office
3 Kaplan Street, Qiryat Ben Gurion

Dear Prime Minister Olmert:

On behalf of Americans for Peace Now (APN), we are writing on the eve of your upcoming visit to the United States to encourage you to actively pursue the resumption of Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations prior to embarking on a unilateral "convergence" plan. APN is a Jewish, Zionist organization dedicated to enhancing Israel's security through peace and to supporting the Israeli Peace Now movement.

We applaud your statements indicating that Israel will give peace negotiations with the Palestinians another chance before pursuing the "convergence" initiative in the West Bank. We hope that your government will indeed make a serious effort to achieve a settlement with Palestinian representatives that support reaching a two-state solution with Israel before any decision to start the "convergence" plan unilaterally.

Sincerely,

Franklin M. Fisher, Chair & Debra DeLee, President & CEO
