LISTEN to the APN conference call with IDF Major General (retired) Shlomo Gazit held on Tuesday, June 5th.
Gazit reported on Israel's approach to the occupied territories immediately following the Six Day War, discussed the evolution of Israeli policy in this arena, and reflected on what Israel can do now, and then answered questions.
Following the Six Day War, General Shlomo Gazit was appointed to be the first Coordinator of
Government Operations in the occupied territories. In this capacity, he was the first to implement Israeli control
of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Among the other senior posts held by General Gazit in his 33 year military career
was head of IDF Military Intelligence.
General Gazit has written extensively on Israeli and Middle Eastern military affairs, including a book, Trapped
Fools, which examines Israel's policies in the West Bank and Gaza.
