UNRWA spokesman to APN: "Further economic sanctions on Gaza Strip would radicalize its population."

In an interview from Jerusalem, Christopher Gunness, spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), gave APN a review of the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. Gunness said that some 80% of the Gaza population is depended on United Nations food rations. He said that the Israeli ban on exports from Gaza and on imports of anything other than essential humanitarian aid has brought Gaza's economy to an almost complete standstill. Further sanctions, he warned, would radicalize the population of Gaza.
