OPENING THE DOOR TO PEACE? Syrian President Bashar Assad convened a four-way summit Thursday with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Qatar Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss Israel-Syria negotiations. Assad reportedly delivered to the Turks a six-point document of principles to further the talks.
