Peace Now activists are fanning out across Israel today, calling for an end to the fighting. They are demanding that their government find a diplomatic solution to the ongoing violence.

Their message is captured succinctly on a poster activists are placing on billboards across the country:

END IT NOW!

The time has come for the Government of Israel to hold its fire and to let diplomacy work.

Today we should aim to reach a long term agreement to end Hamas attacks, which would ensure quiet an security in the south of Israel with international support.

Peace Now is calling on Barak, Livni and Olmert not to repeat the mistakes of the second Lebanon War and to stop all military action now!

The poster also ran as an ad in the front page of the Haaretz newspaper.  English version is seen above; Hebrew version can be seen by opening file below.

Americans for Peace Now also dispatched a new policy statement to Capitol Hill today. Click here to read it.
